Welcome!

Thank you for taking an interest in my work as an artist.

Here at my site you will find not only current works, but past works, my biography, and other information. I am adding slides of new work as I make it, and so far it has been a productive summer dividing my time between my Michigan studio and the Ox-Bow campus in Saugatuck. I have spent the past three weeks focusing on the forms, lights, and perceived color of the trees and landscape of this area, which I study first hand from my walks, bike rides, and drives throughout the day. I am also working on my Grand Rapids Artprize entry, which will focus on the ecology and life found in the West Michigan area with a bit of a twist.

I work primarily in oils watercolor and chalk pastel, but am also exploring other media in my small home studio. My subject matter seems to pull back toward figurative and expressionistic images, but is beginning to drift towards some abstract elements that I am very excited about. There is often an underlying narrative present in much of my work as well.

I currently study at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, majoring in Drawing and Painting. I anticipate completing my BFA in the spring of 2010.
